About
WheresMyPet is a website dedicated to making it as easy as possible to recover lost and found pets.
A work of love by Tony Carrera.
What's WheresMyPet?
WheresMyPet lets you post lost and found pets, essentially creating a virtual lost or found poster. Once you create your post, other users will find your post mainly by the search function of the website.
We've added some tools to help spread the word about your lost or found pet. In your post page you'll find a 'print a flyer', Twitter and Facebook buttons. The print a flyer button will generate a printable PDF version of your post. The Twitter and Facebook buttons are meant to share posts with friends and other users and get the word out.
WheresMyPet has just been launched (late June 2010) and is consistently being improved and refined. New features will work their way in as users provide feedback and suggestions. Feel free to email us at
Thank you for your support and spreading the word about us!
History
Believe it or not, the idea for WheresMyPet started as far back as 2004. Six years ago! This website was written close to completion a ridiculous three times before focusing on what matters most - helping people recover pets.
What made me finally throw all the feature-bloated code away and start from scratch was the fact that after six long years, there was still no truly useful website that made the process of recovering pets easy. To make matters worse, some sites are charging you to post lost pets!
Being forced to pay a fee to help recover a loved one isn't right. That's why I decided to really dedicate myself for a few weeks and get the core of this website up and running. With your help, we can make WheresMyPet the place people use to recover their loved ones.
The Cast
WheresMyPet would have never hit the light of day without the help of some key people. It would be a sin to omit their effort and contribution in helping get this website up and running. I'm lucky not only to have such great people to ask for guidance and suggestions but to call them friends as well. Here they are, in no particular order.
Sebastian Torres
Sebastian is skilled in all areas of IT, graphic design and computers in general. He is nearing completion of his Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design in Mendoza, Argentina. He is always there for any questions I may have, no matter how annoying I can be (and I can be pretty annoying). Words cannot describe how much he has helped me, pushed me and backed me up over countless years. There are few friends like him.
Kristin Quintas
Kristin works as a lien specialist in the construction field in Miami, Florida and is soon to start the second half of her Bachelors Degree. She has believed in WheresMyPet since I first mentioned it to her in late 2006 and has pushed to get the site up tirelessly. Kristin is my partner in crime, she keeps me on track — I'd be lost without her.
Gavin Morrice
Gavin is a Ruby on Rails guru living in Edinburgh, Scotland. I first met Gavin while looking for someone to wrap up the second (or third?) version of WheresMyPet sometime in early 2009. Gavin went above and beyond for me in that version of the site (I still reused a lot of his code for the current version of the site). Gavin has offered his help, advice and plenty of hours of his time without asking for anything in return. I'm proud to call the Gavster a friend.
